Learn which user roles unlock Marketplace access, how to assign them, and what capabilities each role includes—from read-only content browsing to full self-service purchasing.
Who Can Access the Marketplace?
All sites have the Marketplace enabled, but only users with the appropriate role can see and interact with it. These roles define what actions are available to each user:
Role Capabilities
Role Name | Can Browse Marketplace | Can Preview Content | Can Add to Cart | Can Checkout |
---|---|---|---|---|
Default Administrators | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Marketplace Transaction Admin | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
Marketplace Read Only | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
All other users | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ |
Note: If a user doesn’t see the Content Marketplace in their navigation menu, they likely do not have one of the roles above.
Best Practices
-
Use Marketplace Transaction Admin for staff responsible for content purchasing
-
Use Marketplace Read Only for instructional designers, SMEs, or other teams who help evaluate content
